now that i have a road bike in addition to the mtb - i have a 100 mile per week or more goal

27 more weeks - a few century rides will minus out a few weeks of vacation and hopefully i can get over 4K

Factore... Congrats on the 1K.  I for one have not udpated my year goal.  I only road about 2200 miles last year which was my first official full year of MTB'ing.  I set a 2500 goal this year and have not changed it even though I got to 2K in 6 months.  I hope to still complete 2500 off road miles so any extra miles I get on the road will be toward achiving my 2500 off road.  Is all about the saddle time they say.... We'll see where this goes.  IN the mean time, let's keep on riding and enjoying it.  We all have ridden more miles this year then most people will ever ride in their lifetimes....

Party less, go to bed early, get up at 4 or 5 and ride.  Besides, you do have a light don't you? ? ? ?   Riding in my hood at night is better then the day.  No traffic and no heat.

Dang FactorE!!  Good job!  I wish I could get out more on my bike and rack up the miles.  Since I live closer to the CFL area, I get plauged with the Tstorms by the time I get home. :(  There is a rail trail not too far from my house that I try to ride when its not raining or the wife doesn't have me doing something around the house.  Take my MTB out there and get a few miles in the hills.  Some of the climbs are pretty steep.  Tough on a MTB but should be cake on a road bike.  I usually average about 14 mph on these rides.  Slow by roadie standards, but at least it's miles.
It's not just fun, it's an addiction!

A paved trail with hills??  Do you know the elevation by any chance?  Where?  Give us name and and website if possible.  Good place to park too.   If as good as the hills we get while in the San Antonio road ride, it may be better to go do a paved trail with no traffice that has similar hills.  Let us know.

The trail starts in downtown Clermont and heads east.  The hills are mostly steep short climbs with a couple of longer steady climbs.  Plenty of places to park and it only has couple of road crossings.

yea - you were out longer than me - i missed 6 1/2 weeks - it is hard to catch up after that

Gregg, I hated to do it but the road bike really is helping my mtb riding - i am not as tired through the technical sections as i was when i was doing much less saddle time a week.

Yeah,
I was in the market for a road bike before I got hurt, I have been looking again, so don't be surprised if I end up with one in the next month or so. I have been hitting the gym 3 times a week for the last few weeks, don't think much difference yet, but I am hopeful.

I am sort of anti-roadie.  Now that I'm seeing the success that you guys are having, I might be swaying toward getting a road bike.  Now I have to do some more embezzling to get one. ;D

I really don't think I will enjoy it as much as MTB, but I need to do something to improve my fitness.

I am sure that it has it's fun points....we will see.
