Gels taste just like Red Bull, which is disgusting.

You might not be ready for A group until you shave your legs.
You might not be ready for A group if you still endo on Rabbit Ears.
You might not be ready for A group if are still scared of the BIG drop on Franks loop.(guilty)

If you guys want to get real comical I will tell you about myself--

I am new to this forum and do not understand anything you guys are saying!!

I recently moved right by Croom.

I am 40 years old and ride a BMX bike on the trails there everyday!!

I am not partial to mountain bikes.

I am going to make a 3 speed BMX.

I have never worn tight shorts and will never wear them!

   Ok, let the onslaught begin...

You ride Croom on a BMX and you WANT to ride Croom on a 3 speed?  Hmmm, insurance paid up?  Is it a nice BMX bike?  Vultures hang around for folks like you so they can cart away the remains...bike remains that is.  Just kidding.  But seriously, a mountain bike is the way to go.

Congrats Noble for at least riding. And Welcome! How many miles do you ride for, because I'm thinking that I can go go to Bradenton and hook up the horse to the buggy and set out, or I can get in  a car and drive there. Now the horse and buggy would probably make for quite an adventure and it is something that everyone should should at least do once ( for historical perspectives) but it  is not something I would like to do regularly. For meeee, riding  on the trails frequently, the mountain bike is best suited for my needs.   ;D

Well--when I was younger, much younger, I used to race and ride BMX bikes everywhere. I have never outgrown it!!

I started back up riding when I moved here a few months ago, I now ride about 12-20 miles a day, mostly non-stop. My stoping points are the bigger climbs in the pits area on north blue. Without gears those are quite ruff!  I haven't crashed yet at the pits but I know it is coming.  The pits off to the west of FR 3 almost claimed me the other day. Do you guys ever go there? It doesn't seem like many people hit that spot.

Oh, and it is a nice BMX. And the "way to go" is a relative phrase.

So if you are ever at Croom and see a guy trudging along on a BMX--just pass him up and laugh on the way by!
And he will laugh too.

yeah pretty much every time we ride in Croom we do the pits.. generally our group does about 35 miles when we have club rides up there...

the last club ride i did up there, pre wife and family day, was 36 miles in just over 3 hours with somewhere around a 11 mph average..

You do not belong on Group "A"(not only on this Club) if you:
-Are struggling and tired after 13.5 mph on a 20 mile loop off (single track) Wilderness Trail.
-Stop to catch you breath or pretending to fix your bike on Boyette's Abyss (North & South).
-Don't know how to pivot and still dab and turns the bike around.
-Can't complete Gatorback without walking.
-Dismount on an unramped 16" log.
-Are doing 9 mph on fingers at Loyce Park.
-Can't do two laps at Red*.
-Have not done a 12 hours mtb ride.
-Have not done a century off road ride.
-You have not "podiumed".

I know everybody pretty much hits the pits on the blue trail but there are some that are not on any of the main trails off to the west of the yellow trail just a little west of FR 3--it doesn't look like anybody hardly ever rides them. Some of them are bigger than the ones on blue.

Noble,
I know which pits you are refering to.  Long time ago, SWAMP used to have a trail that went to that area.  It is only visited by old time SWAMP members that know about it now.  I was taken there two times now and enjoyed each time.  There is a crazy hill that is as big as the Big Drop at Boyette.  Once you hit the bottom of it, you can still ride down even more by hitting the little creek/pit.  But you have to do a U-turn to get out of it.

That old trail has long been closed and SWAMP no longer encourages anyone to go there.  I am sure Garry or Kevan may know more about it.  It still very easy to get to them just West of FR3 and south of FR4.  I don't recommand you ride this area since if it is not visited by anyone, it is not visited for a reason.  Besides, if you were to have an accident there, chances are you won't be seen by anyone for many days or not at all.

As with other public parks, to keep our trails open for everyone to enjoy, it is best if we stay on approved MTB trails.  Be safe and try not to ride alone out there.  If you do, let someone know where you are going and when you should be back.

BTW, SWAMP has an official ride this July 4th at Croom with a picnic afterwards.  YOu are welcome to ride with us if you like.  Even if you have a BMX bike.  Just bring your helmet and your water.  See you there.
