So you think you're a Trail rider eh?
« on: July 02, 2007, 08:54:05 PM »
how about giving it up for all the people that love to be out no matter what group they ride in just having a blast as trail riders.  They could care less about a race or who did how many how fast...just out there having a blast on the trails.

i think the trail rider might be the best group to be in...

you might be a trail rider if:

1.  you dont give a rats ass about how much your bike weighs
2.  you dont worry about what the bike of the week is
3.  you stop to take some pictures even if the loop you are on might be a personal best time (but you are a trail rider...you dont care how fast your time is)
4.  you don't spend endless hours worrying if 120mm vs 130mm anything matters
5.  your camel back doesn't look like you are sponsored by GNC because it is overstuffed with supliments

feel free to add on

You might be a trail rider if you cleared the big roots at Heartbreak Ridge on the first attempt and felt damn good about it.  Then you get to tell Gregg you didn't fall on those roots. ;D
It's not just fun, it's an addiction!

You did good Jim.  I am your witness.  I know you were thinking about those roots since I mentioned to our group we were doing that trail  I purposely stopped about 20 yards after the bridge to make sure all of my group I was guiding cleared the roots.  All 17 but two of them did.  That was good!

You might be  a trail rider if :

You have scrape marks on your shoulder from trying to get trees out of your way on tight corners
You know what it looks like to have a spider dangling off the front of your helmet
You know the different types of soil one can encounter and how they react with rainwater
You don't know the difference between  Dura Ace, Ultegra  and Campy
You smirk at the 'pretty' outfits roadies wear
You think the Tour  De France was some military  thing from WWII

You have illegally ridden your bike on hiking trails

You know your a trail rider if your Mtb costs more than your vehicle.
My bike is more than a toy; it's my vessel.

I don't know if my bikes cost more than my cars, but I probably have more equity in my bikes.  ;D   ;D   ;D

it is a shame that i have spent more time researching tires for my mtb (i have only been riding for 9 months) than i have for all the cars i have owned together combined over the last 24 years.

That's because you've been driving CARS, not Jeeps or other sophisticated vehicles that need to stick to more than pavement:
