Santos on Sunday?
« on: July 26, 2007, 05:20:07 PM »
Hey guys...
So Gregg convinced me to give Santos a try on Sunday.  I'll be bringing a friend of mine as well who has a few more rides in than I.

Who else is going?
What should I expect?
Should I bring anything more than I do to flatwoods?

more importantly, when should I leave Tampa to be sure I make it on time?

I've got my fingers crossed that I'll get my fork back in time to go. If not, I might risk it and attach my old one whose headset race doesn't match up with the new one.  If I can get my fork, I'm goin for sure. It is a really cool place.

Rode there today! those trails are great! If you want a good challenge do john brown and the reds around the vortex pit! It was hot today and wooped us real good.   Super fun though!

From our neck of the woods, it will take about an hour and fifteen minutes. Bring plenty of water, and I think you will find that it is really a great park.

A buddy of mine and I are gonna be at Santos on Saturday for those that can't make it on Sunday like myself.  You are more than welcome to join us if you'd like.  Probably getting a 9:30 start.  The trails there are in great shape with all the rain they've been getting.  Some of the reds were a little slick last Sunday, but that adds to the fun.
It's not just fun, it's an addiction!

If you need a ride or just want to caravan over there, a group of us are meeting at the Sam's parking lot of i-75 and 56.  It is about half mile east on 56 from i-75 meet there at 7/7:30ish.  Have a little fun in the parking lot then carpool or just caravan up there.  The ride starts at 9:30

besides water, I recommend you bring a snack with you.  Bring an extra bottle of water with sports drink, gels, or other thigns that will help you replenish electrolytes....

That would be exit 275.

Bring some grub, a LOT of liquids, some apsrin, and a wider seat.

I plan on staying as long as I can to make the three-hour drive each way worth it. Last time I stayed until 5PM. I'm bringing extra food and drink in anticipation of doing the same again. If I'm lucky, my sister and brother will come out and ride as well. I need to take out some extra insurance on them before we go. They don't ride much ;)
We see the world not as it is, but as we are.

I'm going to head out there on Sunday kinda early.  I'll be on a big, bright orange Intense cruising slowly through the reds.

We have a group of about 6 or 7 going up early Sunday. I'll be on a big works finish Spider 29. Hope to run into a few of you on the trail (not literally).

At this point it's lookin like I won't have my fork in :'(. But if I can borrow a bike I'm willing to take 3 others plus bikes(as many as six if I use the old bike rack) and munchies up there. The offer is out there, PM me if your interested.
