Help me choose a fork for my Trance build up
« on: September 17, 2007, 10:48:36 AM »
Hey ya'll, I have been doing the ebay thing looking for a Reba 100mm front fork but came across some close out forks and am looking for input and opinions about them. They can all be had for $250 so apples to oranges what are the strengths and weaknesses of these 3. 2007 Marzocchi MX Pro ETA, 2007 Marzocchi XC600 or the 2006 Manitou Minute 3. The Reba will cost about $100 more and may be well worth it, what do you guy's think?

I just got a great deal on my wifes fork.  Tora 819 for $299, it's air sprung with lockout, and adjustable from 80mm to 130mm.  Plus it comes in a kick ass white color.

I know RST has a bad name in the fork world but their new line is supposed to be pretty good.  I am considering the m-29.  The first and titan look decent for the price.

Just get a reba or revelation. The Marzocchi are good from what I have heard. I've messed around with the motion control system on my dads pilot and I like it better then the SPV system on my Black.

I agree with CWG if you want to spend that much money.  The revelation was the best 26" fork that I ever used and the reba was second.  If you go RS I think the lowest fork you should get is the tora.  The dart would be a waste of money IMO.  I never rode a Marzocchi so I cannot comment.  I have never ridden a manitou that I liked but they were all from the lower end of the lineup.  I liked my fox quite a bit but I don't think it was worth $200 more than my revelation.

If you can wait a few weeks I am going to order the m-29 for my sultan.  I can ride it for a while and let you know if RST really has improved, or if it is the same old stuff.  If you can't wait I would stick with something cheaper, easy to service and has good parts availability.  That = tora or reba

I have been around and around with different options but in the end I don't think I can do better than the Reba for the price. I really considered that Manitou Minute 3 but the knock on them is a slow rebound rate with possible packing and the $250 fork did not have lockout(never used it on my Fox). So as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

I have a Fox on the Anthem and love it, thought I might try the Reba and compare apples to oranges.
