Croom Hunting?
« on: October 14, 2007, 11:33:28 PM »
I am having trouble figuring out the actually hunting days that are in Croom. Can anyone tell me how to get the correct info?  Thanks.

Pretty much closed for the rest of the year starting 10/26.  Well documented on http://www.swampclub.org/calendar.htm  Unless you want to be target practice for frustrated hunters who love to shoot our bike trail signs, STAY OUT of that place.... :o

From Bob Wilcox on the Yahoo group:

Croom will be closed because of hunting on these dates:
Muzzleloading October 26 - 28
General Gun November 10 - December 2

Small game is December 3 - March 2 - You are permitted to ride during
this time but beware of the red neck hunters and their comments.

For those of us who have ridden at Croom in between those hunting season, you better have a bright orange vest on.  You hear the guns go off near the trails and accasionally see the hunters out there scouting their spots and carrying their guns.

Thanks a lot guys. It stinks that it is closed during such times of great weather. Plus I have plenty of projects going on out there that I will have to postpone.  Bummer.

Call it what ya' like, but we recently went through unauthorized trail issues at two parks that the land managers were steamed about.

Rule of thumb with dealing with the parks - It's better to ask permission than forgiveness.

I was just joking with the watchdog comment--hence the  ;D

I know what you mean about unauthorized junk--a few people can mess it up for everyone.

tis cool.  I took it in a joking manner.  But then I had to throw that part in with issues a week ago and a month or so back.
