Kids / Younger Riders
« on: October 22, 2007, 05:21:23 PM »
Howdy all!

I am new to the SWAMP and went on my first group ride last week at Boyette (10/14). I have taken my son out on Morris Bridge about a dozen times, we've been to Reddick, and the aforementioned Boyette.

I would really like to hook him up with some other kids around his age (he's 11) who like to ride. We are going to try out the Youth Ride when it happens, but I figured I'd post a request to the board.

Oh yeah, we live about 5 miles from Trout Creek and 8 miles from Bruce B Downs / Flatwoods.

my daughter is 11 and rides but she is just starting to be able to ride the trails a bit. She has mostly been road riding before. We live by Croom though.

Both my daughters [11 and 9] mountainboard now--they love it!

Cool! I haven't been to Croom yet, although it is definitely on the list. How often does your family ride out there?

My boy is 12 and rides pretty well. I bring him out occasionally. Send me a private message and we can see if we can get the kids together.

we ride almost everyday--either on the paved trails here or the off road ones.

let me know when you are coming to Croom and we'll see if we can meet up.

Sand - hah!  What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.  An absolutly awesome place to ride after it rains.  So many choices for mileage.

Yeah and Bob W. tells me it is officially open for riding this year during hunting season! First time it has been. I am supposed to be the test dummy!

We have had so much rain here in the last few weeks that there ain't no soft sand right now.

Think positive.  It will be the best ride ever.  Rain 40-50 degrees usually.  Oh, uphill sand builds character.

I think riding in all that sand all the time does help me some--because when I go to Santos it feels so easy--like I am road riding.
