married vs single
« on: October 22, 2007, 08:36:37 PM »
june  23 rides / 545 miles / ave 17.58 per day
july   21 rides / 493 miles / ave 16.43 per day
aug   18 rides / 469 miles / ave 15.13 per day
sept  20 rides / 439 miles / ave 14.36 per day

married:

sept  7 rides / 173 miles / ave 7.86 per day

that is a huge drop in miles - now the weird thing is that she never once tells me not to ride.  she actually encourages it.  is there some kind of weird mind trick that goes on when you get married?

Dude...you were out at Alafia the day after your wedding... ;D

I had lots of non-riding time surrounding my wedding. At one point I didn't touch a bike for 3 weeks. :o

Don't sweat it. Enjoy it. ;)

Take advantage of her encouragement!  I'm still super suprised that she let you ride the day after your wedding!  My riding has slacked off a little bit because I've moved farther away from all the trails. :'(  Jonathan, you have no excuse because she is practically pushing you out the door to ride. ;D  Get your ass on that bike!! ;D

My wife likes that I have found something that makes me feel as good as riding does. She used to tell me I needed a hobby.  :)

Johnathon, you weren't married in september??

My riding slacked some after I got hitched. But it wasn't until the baby was born that it dropped dramatically. Actually I've increased the road mileage but since I have an hour drive to the trails my time in the dirt has suffered. It's all worth it for the kid though.
My bike is more than a toy; it's my vessel.

You have only been married for a week.  Repost in March with the new stats since you have gotten married.  My riding time is kept low with two boys and work.
What was I THINKING !!!!!!

Bicycling mag has a great quiz, It's called who do you love. For each question you answer bike or spouse. (I cant believe I am going to type this out but its funny).
I thought this fit this thread pretty well.

1. I will never forget the first time I saw you.....Wife
2. I wanted you instantly...............................Bike
3. I often find myself daydreaming about you.....Bike
4. There's more than one photo of us together on my desk....Bike
5. I love showing you off to my friends......Bike
6. My friends often remark how attractive you are.....Bike
7. In a typical week, we spend five or more hours of quality time together......Bike
8. When your around, I often look at you with admiration and longing.........Bike
9. In the last 3 months I've spent more than $250 on you.......Wife and Bike
10. I desperately want to take you to Italy......Wife
11. Our last ride lasted more than an hour.........definitely bike
12. It's thrilling how you respond beneath me.......um....Bike
13. I would never let anyone else ride you.....Wife
14. You make my heart beat faster.......depends, but bike
15. You make me feel young......Bike
16. You have taken me places and shown me things I never thought I would see........wife
17. When I'm alone with you, I'm at peace with the world........Both
18. You were made for me......Both
19. I can't live without you.......wife
20. I will never upgrade to a newer model......Wife

I know!

I was typing it on my laptop at the kitchen table, and my wife was sitting across from me, She kept asking me what I was snickering about. ;)

YUP...wait until you have a lil factore! ;D  My wife of 10 years didn't really take me away from bike time, because she used to ride too.  But...when we had our little boy (he's 2 yrs old), my riding time went way down.  I'm not complaining though!  I love spending time with him!  Now that  we're expecting a baby girl in March...wonder how that's going to effect my saddle time?! :o
