This question probably demonstrates my noobiness, but I know this is the best place to ask. I am currently using Shimano SPD m540 clipless pedals. I'm curious if anyone knows of a platform pedal attachment that might be available for Shimano pedals? Basically, what I'm looking for is essentially a regular platform pedal that has a cleat built into it that would allow me to keep the clipless pedals on my MTB but ride without using MTB shoes... I'm interested in something like this so I can use my bike for quick trips around the neighborhood, to the store, etc. and not have to wear my MTB shoes. Anyone have any suggestions?

Before you drop $25 stop by UBC at Fletcher I got the plastic ones ($4/pair) that I use on my Rockhopper when riding with the kids in the neighborhood.

I'd get the new pedals. My father had those on his bike when he got it, and the where lost on the trail after 2 rides, they just don't stay on.

I'm not going to use them on the trails or anything like that... I simply want them for when I need to run up the street to Walgreens or wherever and don't want to have to clog around in my MTB shoes...

Jersh I am with ya on this one, I love my 540's. Tried the egg beaters, just did'nt give me the release I was looking for (in or out) the only knock on the 540 is the weight hence the reason not to go even heavier with the 324. These little platforms will be great for cruzin around the beach or allowing momma to ride sans clip ins

Shimano also makes a Clip flop That's great for casual riding and look just like flip flops but with straps and cleats. I actually use them during the summer when riding my MTB on the Pineallas Trail.

The Clip flops sound quite interesting! I ended up with the $4 plastic jobbies that treadlight recommended.

They're about $50.00 without the cleats, but they've really held up. I've gotten way more use out of them than I ever thought I would. You canstop somewhere and go in without clicking and clacking and slipping all over the place. I guess they click a little. To look at them uoy wouldnever know they're bike shoes.
