tuesday night ride
« on: November 08, 2007, 07:07:48 AM »
How did everyone who showed make out on their night ride tuesday? We had a great time! I  welcome the change of pace! If you did not make it you are missing out and should try for next week.  Next Thursday we will be doing a night ride at Alafia and that will be a blast!  8)

Chisel,
I looked for you and the 813 crew aftewards for the beer gathering at Gators.  You all were gone when we got back by 8:20.  Slow it down will you!   :D  ...  For anyone that goes to the Tuesday night rides.  We usually get together at Gators afterwards.  But check with peeps because sometimes we go to Beef's since is a bit closer.

See you next Tuesday.... I'll try to make Thursday as well.

As it always is with the first official night ride... Several riders ran out of battery power and had to ride back in the dark or behind someone with a light.  There must've been 3 or 4 in my group.  Check your battery ...  In some cases (specially older light systems) you have to drain it down and let it fully charge at least twice...

That was a nice night to be out on trail...cool weather, clear skies and dry trails(maybe a little too dry...all that dust :P) made it a fun ride!

I had a good laugh while we were riding:  It was funny to hear how a shout out evolved as it made it's way back through pack:   Low...low... hole... hole... slow... ;D ;D

See you guys next week!

It was a great ride, it has been a while since I rode that close to Marcel. He has developed quite a bit of endurance! There were several huffing and puffing.  My lights ran out, I only got to use them for part of last years night riding season, so I think the batteries weren't up to the task. We will see how they do next tuesday...................might have to get me some new lighting.....bummer ;D.

We do it more out of tradition now.  I know some hard cores hate it that everyone is announcing a little 3 inch branch calling it log.  Some call signs have special meaning to a few who have been doing the Tuesday night rides for a while.  Signs like HOE, LOG, TURTLE, DUCK, GOOSE, and now a new one we'll be using shortly: AAAAFLACCC... NICE JACKET, ... Does after the singing that Janice and Kelly try to get us into.
..it has been a while since I rode that close to Marcel. He has developed quite a bit of endurance! ..
Thank you... droping a few pounds has helped.  You've made great progress in less then a year bunny.

I thought he set a great pace...I was hoping it would have been a little faster.  It seems like I have more energy and can go harder at night than I can when it is hot out.

Maybe we can do a b+ group next time.  I can't keep up with chiselchest and ellsriders group but I would like to go a little faster.

As far as I could tell all the people that were riding around us were having conversations while we were riding.  That is generally a sign that the speed is pretty good. When everybody goes quiet because their tongues are hanging out is when it is too fast.

Answers to your questions:
1) Need good (12 watts or better) light to last 2.5 hrs
2) $5
3) No.  Just keep at least 8-10mph pace which I think I seen is the slowest pace.

MrSandpine, appreciate the feedback.....

i am assuming a 1 million candle watt light would be a bit much.. hahaa...

got a coal miners head light

i think i can keep the 8-15 mph with no problems.....

hopefully i will see you all there...

thanks again!!
