Second childhood!
« on: November 26, 2007, 09:20:53 PM »
I think I am in my second childhood or something.

I have this little flat banked launch ramp that I made and I was jumping this pile of rocks and 4 garbage cans today!

Brought back lots of memories and was just as fun as back then!!

Got any memories like that guys??

It was the memories of the wind rushing through your hair, past your face, and that feeling of your first freedom. It came back to me about 8-9 years ago when I got my oldest son his first bike,He started without training wheels,A Wally World Next full suspension, 21 speed MTB. After teaching and watching him ride I had to jump on it. It all came back , the wind and the surge of speed as you powered through the gears. That was the second childhood, I think I'm on my third now. I can't get enough of it now. A bunch of bikes, spare parts, a dozen spare tires, thirty tubes, Bike stands, floor pumps, Park tool kits, all that chain lube, cables, housings, chains,ARW...ARW....ARW...,(Tim Taylor), I want more, more power!!!
If you don't crash occassionaly, you're not riding hard enough!!

I remember my first bike--first one that I can remember anyway--it was a Schwinn Stingray with the banana seat. Orange, 5 speed with the rod shifter sticking up off the top tube--that thing was sweet!

My next bike was a Mongoose bmx--when they first came out.

I remember jumping garbage cans, wood, people, pretty much anything we could find.

We used to love for it to rain without lightning, so our moms would let us head out to ride in it. I would hit every puddle and ditch around!!

A friend of mine at Chainwheel Drive has an old Orange Crate for sale if you want to relive some memories.

I remember my first crash.. well that after math of it really. Hell, I'm still in my first childhood lol.
Either way, I totaled that bike. My parents still tell stories of camping in Monterey and finding pieces of my bike and later me stuck IN the crack of a tree :) good times.
