I have been wanting to get a ss 29er and just happened this was listed on http://www.mtbflorida.net/. Its a redline monocog 29er And I think its an 07. So I meet up the guy (Randy) in Alafia Sunday to test it and could not hide the excitement and agreed to purchase it. This bike begs the notion of picking the right lines after a couple of northcreek and bridges my shoulders and lower back were sore. I can't wait 'till weekend to ride alafia again this time with my spd pedals. Its another dimension of riding a bike and respect for conserving your mo.
The tires are stock WTB exiwolf 2.3 and I'm running them at 25psi (I'm 165 lbs), what type and pressure of tires you guys running?
As I am a newbie on this type of bike, inputs are appreciated.

Now I know that I am not the best example, because I am a wimp, and have a shock in the front Grin. There are times that I run my pressure as low as 32ish. Most of the time, I ride 35 plus. I am a hare heavier than you though Wink.

I'm 160#s and I run my tubeless Weirwolf 2.1s at 40-45lbs. But then, I don't mind sacrificing some grip for less rolling resistance. My tires have grip to spare Grin

Good to see you at the club ride Brian. I adjusted it this morning to 30 psi on both and was bouncing all over the place so I need to play with the figures for each trail and make a record.

What gear ratio you runnin on that beast???

I am on 32 and 18 right now which I tried at Alafia and Boyette and made most of the short climbs without exerting too much work. The combo aloowed me to pick decent speed on flat but had to stand up on the couple last stroke on some of the climbs.

I weigh 215, and I run my tires at a shade under 40lbs, however, I am not riding a 29er, and I am not running tubeless. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it true that you can run pressure a little lower on a 29 inch tire than a 26 inch tire and not worry about pinch flats - same with tubes versus tubeless?

Yes, having a bigger volume (larger cross-sectional area) allows you to run at lower psi.
