Indoor Rock Climbing in Tampa (Vertical Ventures)
« on: December 22, 2007, 10:11:53 PM »
Anyone else been to Vertical Ventures Indoor Rock-climbing Gym? It's in Tampa off Anderson, just north of Sligh.

I've been three times in the past two weeks and have to say that it is an excellent complimentary activity to mountain-biking. It gives mostly an upper-body workout, but since the resistance is your own body-weight instead of free-weights, you won't become Mr. Ape-man from it.

I was hoping we could get together some SWAMPers and go the first Friday night after New Years. They're open until mid-night on Fridays, and it's 50% off. Should cost under $20 per person

I checked the website http://www.verticalventures.com/gallery.php and it looks like fun. What is the highest wall they got? I will try check it tomorrow around 3:00ish. When we went to our Bahamas cruise they have one wall.

I'm pretty sure they go up to 40'. Not all of them are that high but at least one short and one long wall, plus the overhead which spans the building. In the center is a shorter wall. The shortest end is about 10' while the taller end with overhanging ledges is around 15'.

I think I got tendonitis in my right elbow from swinging around so I'm taking a bit of a break and some Ibuprofen...

Awesome, I've even got my favorite ex and a couple of the girls I'm currently dating expected to go :o Maybe my best friend as well, though he should have a brand-new baby girl any day now so no telling if he'll be allowed out. Should be good times!

Rock-climbing is more of an upper body workout :D

I had a BLAST last Friday and am going again this Friday. You guys should really check it out- the perfect complimentary sport for mountain biking.
