What are those other trails by Gator Pit?
« on: January 09, 2008, 06:27:07 PM »
I was riding Boyette today and I passed by gator pit and went past Golf cart in error and found a couple of trail that are not on the map. they look like they dont get ridden much since they were over grown. They dont look like double track that the map shows, any ideas on what these are?

I would guess that its a short cut over to golf cart, and there are tons of hitchhikers on that trail.

Garry would know best, but it is a trail that is not ridden anymore.

No, they are on the other side of the water from golf cart. they look like they go back towards Mt Boyette.

It is an entrance to Golf Cart.  Begins across from the entrance to Gatorpit and exits into Golf Cart around the climb with the roots then hangs a hard left.
What was I THINKING !!!!!!

I'm not sure if I'm clear on what path you took.  If you enter from the grassy track passing Golf Cart on your right then Gator Pit on your left - directly right from there is an old trail the fishermen use that used to be a trail that we used until that portion of Golf Cart was cut in that you would have just passed.  Is that what you are talking about?

We use to ride that section but the trail we all ride now to the right is much nicer! If I can recall it use to get really sandy in spots.

That is part of it, but if you follow that trail down to the trees, it splits off. you can go straight (which looks like it could be "Old Golf cart) or vear to the left which looks like it cuts over the back way to Mt Boyette. I was just curious because they looked like they were at one time heavy ridden trails that just got overgrown.

That is now a fishermens trail.  Chisel is right, it had a couple of sandy spots in it when we used to ride it.

Look for a major workday announcement for Boyette after the 50's are over with.  With a surge of volunteers we can have some awesome trails finished at Balm-Boyette and ready for everyone to ride!
