Two great names I've heard:

1. North Reek
2. Poop Loop

Nice trail - smelly but nice...

Rode the new section today. The turn around is tricky, the log I didn't even try. Sad I had no idea that Vulture poop smelled so bad ! It was a little freaky riding   out there alone with about 100 vultures taking flight from the trees and circling overhead.

so buzzard puke is pretty much buzzard free now, it still is a little gnarly.  We went through there yesterday and the guardian alligator did not want to move out of the way.  She is all of 8 solid feet, and if she didn't finally move, we were turning around.  If you search "alafia" on you tube, someone posted a video of the poop loop with the gator as the star.

I'll look for the video, but where was the gator at on the poop loop? When I ride that with the kids I usually ride behind them. I think I'm going to change the lineup!  Shocked

Mama gator sits right at the end of the finger where you have to make the hairpin turn.  Here is the link to the youtube video, hope it works.

I'd hate to come up on that gator and startle it!  Might turn my Panaracers into chew toys! Shocked

I've run into them ALOT bigger than that out at Carter. Now that the vultures seem to have moved out this new section of trail is pretty sweet! Some good technical stuff there to give a challenge to most.

Big Mamma is a sight to be behold.  I swear that her tail is almost the diameter of a 55 gallon drum.

Anyone got a picture of Big Mama?

I haven't been fortunate enough to come across any gators on the trails since I started riding 2/07

It's only occasionally alligators make for an interesting encounter; the rest of the time it's kind of like - wish I were anywhere else..  This time of year the gators are quite aggressive as it's mating season.  A couple of encounters I have had with gators was one chased me years back.  Yes, I was on land!!  Never knew I could run so fast on impulse drive. And another was smack dab in the middle of the trail as I came around a bend.  That sucker was hissing at me all stiffened up.  It was his trail that day.

I got chased and treed by a gator at Carter once. I stayed in that damn tree for almost 15 minutes till the big boy finally left. Shocked

There used to be one on the ridge riders sight. I've seen her a few times, if she isn't 12+ft she isn't an inch.

The best gator story I have happened on Rollercoaster at Alafia. Came around a turn and there he was, middle of the trail. I ended up inadvertantly doing a nose wheelie trying to get stopped. There I am, on the front tire close enough to touch this guy, buddy said my rear tire was an easy 3ft off the ground!
