SWAMP News: Adopt A Trail program taking shape
« on: April 18, 2008, 08:05:32 PM »
Hi folks,
It looks like the "Adpot A Trail" program is starting to take shape.  This is great news since we have over 120 miles of trails to maintain in four trail systems.  That makes for a lot of trails that need trimming in a once a month workday. Whew!

Rick Thompson will be leading a group, on bicycles, to do a little extra trimming in the Quadrants at Boyette this Saturday, April 19th, starting at 8:30 a.m.

Jeff Williams and his family have offered to adopt the "GOLF CART" trail, and maintain it; that's a fairly long trail!  Thanks Jeff and family!!

Remember to report your hours guys!

Also for all to know, this is trail trimming only.  Throw all trimmings well off the trail. No removing of technical trail features or altering of trails without prior approval of the Trail Boss for any of the particular parks.

Remember, although we have a lot of vegetation to keep under control at Boyette, we also have a lot of trimming that needs to be kept at bay at WT, Alafia - and Croom will be feeling the effects of the growing season soon.

So, as you can see there are more of you members of the SWAMP Club that are needed to step up and give back to your trails.  We now have over 600 members in the SWAMP Club, if even a small percentage were to join in on this program with their club that they belong to, we would have the most envious trails in the State.

We realize that everyone has busy lives and can't all make the trail maintenance days.  So this is an opportunity for YOU to pick and choose the time that best works for YOU.  Ride a little; trim a little.  Sounds like a plan to me.

Thanks to all and great rides to you!
