I used to live in Thonotosassa maybe 25 years ago. Times must be changing - I used to think I was in the absolutely end of the civilized earth!  Kind of a Deliverance time of my life.  :-X

It still is, there hasn't been a single change around here in 40 years..a few new houses around the lake, but thats it..it's still a one flashing red light town...everywhere else has expanded to meet Thonotosassa, making us close enough to Seffner/Mango..to count us in, so we aren't technically "the sticks" anymore..now you have to travel farther north to Antioch, to get to the sticks now...lol

Those are some SICK homes around the lake now.  Location, location, location.  Stonelake (I think) on the other side of the lake too.  Talk about dressing up the pig.  :-\

Other than the above homes, I think the only thing Thonotosassa has got since I lived there was the Auto Parts store on 301.  THAT'S progress!!!

Kind of cool the Antioch General Store is still there.  Kind of a link to the town that time forgot.

Literally..the only progress has been the Advance auto parts store..lol..Main St. looks EXACTLY the same...I grew up in Antioch and believe it or not the general store has come up SLIGHTLY, in that the people now running it, keep it much more clean and organized..so really it's become even more of a hub of that area..I assure you, the deliverance banjos can be heard if you stop in and listen carefully...lol
The roadies have something on us there, they have a regular route that takes them all through, Antioch, Thonotosassa etc in huge group rides..I sometimes wonder what their reaction would be if I jumped into the draft lines with my dirt rig, sporting 2.5 panaracers..:D

I know I have run into (NOT literally!) some roadies when I have been out to my kids house on Taylor Rd.  It would be a nice area to do road time with the elevation changes and still somewhat minimal traffic.

Over the years, I was disappointed when the restaurant on Main St. closed and then the Grocery Store.  I don't recall what the name was but the restaurant that used to be on the northwest end of the lake was also pretty nice in some of its incarnations.  Always a nice view.

The restaurant is a church now, and the little store, is closed and derelict. sad really...I've been in and around this area for all of my life, I have put more miles on a 20" BMX around there than most of those roadies will..lol

the terrain around that area mirrors flatwoods..I've always wanted them to build more technical trails on the Old Fort King trail..right now I can get almost 20 miles of flat double track..but there is plenty of land to build a whole system of trails off the main trail..and I rode most of it, as a kid, I literally lived within eye sight of the trail, before it was a trail, well an official trail anyway...there isn't much elevation change, but there are small hills a'la flatwoods..

I agree on the grocery store.  That is more a sign than the restaurant to church.  I kind of hope it could be bought and used as something.

The elevation changes I was referring to were along Taylor and Kingsway north of Pruett.  Certainly not as much as San Antonio/Dade City but something.
