Santos conditions
« on: May 22, 2008, 12:30:37 PM »
Hello all -- Anyone ridden Santos in the last few days? What trails did you ride and how were the conditions? Is the area west of the Landbridge parking lot particularly sandy? We are headed up on Saturday and wondering which parts of the park are in the best condition.

Thanks

As of the 11th, It was in good condition every where that we rode. With the exception of that one piece that I think your are refering to. It was a bit sandy as you head in from 49th street trail. There was one whoop that was a sand pit on Nalys trail. Other than that did the complet epic and then some, and it was in great shape!  Have fun, let us know some of us are headed up on Monday.

Santos gets really good with rain.  It should be dried out enough when a bunch of us head up there on Monday.  Those trials are awesome after a good rain.  They get just enough tack that makes for fantastic traction.

I was out there on Sunday and rode - Cow Bone, Ant Hill, Bunny, about 1/5th of Vortex, Spider Kingdom (coming back to trailhead), and Sinkhole - all were in good shape with minimal sand.

I was up on sat 5/17, rode everything from bike trailhead to vortex and all was prime.  No sand worth mentioning.

Their forum does not have nearly the activity ours does.  They must have real jobs or something. ;D  Every now and then you might see my smiling face on the OMBA forum.

Hey Jimbo, who all is going this Monday? What are you planning to ride?
I'm thinking about taking my girlfriend up there again. She's improving quickly, but still has a long way to go.

The usual suspects that I ride with.  We'll be doing a little bit of everything with an emphasis on the reds.

What kind of pace will you be riding at?

We'll be doing a pretty good pace.  I'll have a friend of my girlfriend with me.  I've never ridden with him so I'm not sure of skill or speed.  The way he talks, he could probably hang with us.  Plus I don't want to bring him back all scathed up.
