the next sled
« on: June 02, 2008, 12:53:16 PM »
yes it is a ghey cyclocross bike....but I can use it as a roadie bike off season with only a minor weight penalty from a true road racing machine.  I am wanting to start doing more road riding again since I have been challenged to do the 6 Gap this year.

Nice bike, but you should get one of these next - http://www.competitivecyclist.com/mountain-bikes/frame/2008-Intense-socom-fro-3414.html - its really practical as you can even mount a front derailleur on it  :)

I'll take one of each. :)

I wanted a cyclocoss bike for urban assaults. But then it occurred to me, the steps would feel neglected and begin to resent me, so I came back to my senses :p

I loved the FSC races last year - so I am down for the competition...plus cyclocross is a racing format that my family can actually come out and watch...a MTB race is not the best spectator sport....stand around and wait wait wait and then see somebody ride by then back into the woods.

yeah, at the Squiggy, I kind of felt bad for my people that was there with us, and after I did my laps and it was my friends turn to go, I really felt bad for them.
Cold, windy, and not a bike in sight. lol

Personally, I wish Florida had big enough hills to build a Mountain cross course...Maybe in San Antonio/Dade City area..that looks like a blast and the fam can see the whole course start to finish.

the steering angle is a slightly less aggressive and the frame is a tad bit heavier because of the abuse...the wheel sets can be switched out so they are the same as a road bike.

it doesn't have mounts for v brakes (for tire/mud clearance) - it uses cantilever brakes

it has an attachment that goes on the stem that lets you go back and forth between a regular purse and a small pet carrier

Newb here....

whats the difference between 'cyclocross' and a road bike?

you mentioned urban riding, but what would you do on this bike that you wouldn't do on a roadie?

A friend of mine (Nick's brother, Guy) recently rented a regular Mojo out in California for a weekend and couldn't sa enough positive things about it...it even enabled him to outrun a mountain lion.  It is definately a cool looking mountain bike but I'm done with carbon fiber so I'd say get a Pivot Mach 5!  Same suspension design but an aluminum frame though it not nearly as pretty as the Mojo (and its name does sound like something from Gillette) - http://www.pivotcycles.com/mach5.php
