Off to Upstate NY for a Week! Bringing the Bike
« on: June 26, 2008, 08:40:47 AM »
We are leaving for upstate NY early in the morning for a family reuion on lake Ontario. I plan on riding 2 trail systems while I am there:

going to ride the Dryer Road and Lecthworth SP (Finger Lakes trail) systems. Dryer road looks pretty cool, Letchworth looks more like WTA trails. I'll try and take pictures and maybe some video....

Nowhere near as exciting as Whistler, but i'll take what I can get :D

Have a safe trip, and enjoy.   Maybe we can get together a ride when you get back if I ever get my bike fixed.

I did a race up that way a few years back in Ellicottville, NY.  The trails looked pretty sweet....too bad I had an unscheduled derailer removal about 5 minutes in.  This place may be a bit far, but it was worth the hour from Buffalo.

I rode Ellicottville last fall. It was great! I grew up in Buffalo, we used to ski down there.

I am currently in Kentucky and have been riding my road bike every day. It is really hilly here, I wish I had brought my mountain bike.

Very cool.  My family is from Tonawanda & Grand Island.  I spent many summers there.

So you've been to Old Man River, no doubt?

Summer is the best time to be there!

No doubt..  Mississippi Muds, Fantasy Island, Darien Lake, Kelly's Country Store, Beaver Island and of course the Falls.  I hope to get over to the island in a few weeks.

Well. I did not get to ride the Dryer road trails in victor, but we attempted to ride the Finger lakes trail in Letchworth. too much rain up there made the trails very muddy and we only rode about 2 miles in before turning around. too bad because what little we roade looked to be an awesome trail system when dry! following the gorge of the genessee river was great!
