From today's St. Pete Times:
Recreation has place in Conner preserve plan
The Southwest Florida Water Management District this week approved a slate of recreational uses — including hiking, bicycling, horseback riding and camping — at Conner Preserve. Crews are marking the trails and adding other infrastructure at the preserve, located off State Road 52 just east of U.S. 41. They expect to have the amenities ready within the next few months. Swiftmud also envisions people using the preserve for nature watching and photography, geocaching and picnicking. The district acquired the 2,980-acre preserve five years ago to protect natural systems and water quality and to provide flood protection and opportunities for nature-friendly recreation.
