Cyclocross bikes??
« on: July 19, 2008, 10:00:25 AM »
I'm thinking about getting an entry level road bike & thought about a cyclocross bike as something that could also go places a little more off-road.  I've noticed the gear specs are a little different than actual road bikes.  Would an entry level road bike w/ cyclocross tires thrown on it be that much different in performance from an actual cyclocross bike with similar components?  Would a road bike brake set-up be an issue out on woods roads and trails?

The geometries are not the same and the road bike ridden off road would be more stress than I would want to put on a road frame. There is a tool for every job. 8)

you need canti brakes for c-cross as well - when you put the thicker rubber on road brakes don't have enough clearance
