Crank Question
« on: July 31, 2008, 05:13:33 PM »
Correct me if I am wrong but I am no bike mechanic however I think this is almost a gimmie... Shouldn't there be a dust cap or whatever you call it to cap off the opening to the bearings? if so Can I purchase these anywhere (chainwheel drive?) or does it have to be specific to thebike??
Thanks for reading dumb but fairly important question!

Nope, sealed bearings - it is what it is.  You can always put some grease on your finger and run it around the "opening" to help seal out dirt and water.  Clean it out, re apply.

Alll right thanks!! We just added a new mountain bike rider to our group and had her bike sent to my place so we could slap it together here. and that just didn't look right.. However thanks for shinning light on the situation.
Its the mesa GS Couldn't really find any bike that beat it for the price and finding a womens bike seems to be pretty tough! But it should be a good start and a better ride than her wally world ride. We are all just ready to go ride again!!
Thanks again for the reply!!
