Tonight - Olympic mountain bike events
« on: August 22, 2008, 02:07:42 PM »
Does not look like it will be on NBC, but I have FiOS and have found other Olympic events televised on channels 64 and 79.

10pm-women's mountain bike (cross country) event
3am-men's mountain bike (cross country) event

Good luck hunting, if BMX showed us anything this event should be fun to watch!

I just saw a report that the women's event was postponed till Saturday due to heavy rains not sure what time on Saturday though. The men's event is still on schedule.

Actually, watching cross country mountain bike racing is pretty damn boring.  It is an awesome participation sport, but a terrible spectator sport.  They used to show the NORBA and some WC races back in the day on OLN and they were a great cure for insomnia.

I feel the same way about Golf and Baseball---both sports are much more fun to play rather than watch.

I'm hoping that they can do something to spice it up, but it is just hard to capture the excitement we feel while riding on tv.

Remember, China is 12 hours ahead of us so it has been Saturday over there for about 3 hours.

www.nbcolympics.com may carry video of the events - I don't know if it's live - but they may have video after-the-fact.  I watched the Madison track race from this website.  Madison is sort of combination of a tag-team two-man track bike race with a roller derby feel.  Was interesting for a while watching the handoffs - but not real exciting just watching them go around and around and around for 150 laps..
