FSC #1 - Haile's Trails
« on: August 28, 2008, 12:14:27 AM »
Just a few weeks until the FSC series begins.  I plan to do a handful of the events to get a taste of fast-paced, short-distance XC racing.

Did anyone here race at Haile's Trails last year?  What are the trails like?  What local trails are they most comparable to?  I know they are only open one weekend a year so I'm hoping someone here has this knowledge.

The other FSC events I'm considering are the relatively-local ones - Alafia, San Felasco and Santos.
Don't buy upgrades, ride up grades - Eddy Merckx
Simplify and add lightness - Colin Chapman

What about Fort Clinch? That's up in your stomping grounds :)

Anthem - Yes Clinch is near my hometown of Jacksonville but it's still a 4 hour drive from here.

Luis - I never made it to Razorback so....?  I'm an mtb newbie.

Rocky around the quarry, short steep climbs (with a longer climb depending on what direction the course is run), winding singletrack and a little open field riding...

It's a really fun trail, but the loop is short ~6-7 miles

Wishful thinking on my part...maybe Dave added more miles!  ;)

I do remember the rumors after Razorback's closing that Haile would get a few more miles of trail, but that was along with the rumor that it would be open regularly.

I'm not planning on racing, but I'd love to head up there Saturday to ride. With Garry being out of commission, my help will probably be needed at the Boyette work day, which is that Saturday.
