Carbon or Aluminum Frames?
« on: August 30, 2008, 01:52:28 PM »
So I have been looking at several frames some aluminum and some carbon.  I am wanting to get a 5.5 - 6" travel trail bike.  If I went with a carbon frame would I be sacrificing any strength and "toughness" for the light weight?

I guess what it boils down to is I dont want to drop $2k on a frame that wont last several years.

I have been looking at the Yeti 575.

Your thoughts and inside tech knowledge are much appreciated from this newbie.

Get a Turner 5 Spot or RFX - the sale they have on them right now makes those bikes screaming bargains.

I have heard 2 years is he average life expextancy of a MTB carbon frame. I think a lot of that depends on useage. I think you could double or even triple that # in strictly XC single track use.

C-dale has a lifetime warranty on their carbon frames.
