FSC @ Alafia?
« on: October 08, 2008, 06:58:29 PM »
I'm considering running the FSC race at Alafia at the end of this month.  I'd be running in the beginner class.  Any ideas what trails are or are not included in the beginner's course at Alafia?  Not looking to know the exact course, I just need to know if I should start brushing up on my trouble spots on some of the black trails...or if I should just sit it out all together.

Thanks.

Last year the course was the same for everyone (except the kids). Only the laps were different, Novice did 1, Pros did 4, etc.

It was also Bridges, Rock Garden, Bridges, Rollercoaster, portion of Moonscape, finish - from what little I remember, about 8-9 miles I think.

I will be out there in a little while to make a final decision on the race loop. I never tell anyone what it will be but I will say people in the white wave will not ride moonscape. The yellow and white wave will not do the same course. The only reason they did lest year was because we were expecting a down pour that never camp.

Thank you for the info.  Is there a limit on registration or should I be good signing up and paying on the day of the race?

If you pay on race day you also pay a late fee

Thanks for all the info.  Since this is my first FSC race I think I'll be running the Novice class on my SS rigid.  Should be fun/interesting/painful.

I'm really looking forward to the San Felasco event too.

I've been thinking about running the beginner class instead.  I'll be running my SS rigid 29er out there...so at least I could have two laps to make some moves since I obviously will be at a disadvantage at the starting line (my current gearset sucks for the flats but is pretty much optimal for everything else Alafia can throw at it).

I did the Alafia race last year on my SS and the start was rough but ended up working my way to second and then I had a mechanical half way through the second lap. >:(

Chiseeeellll...  congrats.. 1st place with the faddies... You put 6 minutes on 2nd place.. You sandbagger, your speed was good enough for 3rd place on your class if you could have muster a 3rd lap at that speed... very nice man.. congrats.

Let me go stare at the other peeps on here see how they did...
