I have a Thule double track and love it.   Works on my road bike, mountain bike and wifes slope tube "female" bike.....  sets up in seconds.
I have the key to the city.

Check out the saris thelma http://www.saris.com/c-16-.aspx It's a good rack and you don't need to worry about top tubes.   Rack never touches the frame.

I'd get either of Yakima or Thule that doesn't require clamping of top tubes or taking any part of the bike apart.

The more important question is what is the new car going to be?

Very cool...I thought you'd lean towards the MS3 instead of a diesel Jetta wagon.

After a test drive i was sold. The 3 pulls so good through out the gears. Plus the interior is just so nice without being to boy racer.

I have the Xport 2 bike rack sold by performance bike. 1 1/4" receiver with an adaptor for a 2". Not as expensive as the Thule or Yakima.  Does that make it a "cheap" rack?  Guess that's a matter of opinion, but I've been using it almost a year with no problems out of it.
