MARK YOUR CALENDAR
« on: December 02, 2008, 08:33:59 PM »
Hello folks - now that the negotiating is done and the agreement is signed with the land managers - we have the  access issues at Boyette behind us.  What does that mean?  It means that we can have workdays at Boyette whenever we want - and more importantly - whenever we need to.

This is where it all pays off.  We will soon have what will turn out to be the flat out best trail that you will see in the area. Looking at some of this new trail you would almost swear that you were in the Carolinas instead Florida.  Also the beauty of it is there will be a little bit of something for everyone with harder/easier options.  Smooth run outs and decent climbs.  You'll stop at the top of a climb to take in all of the view only to realize the next one is even higher - and doable.  This won't be some crazy scary trail that only a small handful of folks are comfortable riding.  Nope - Ridgeline will be just hard enough to teach you how to ride it; and it will be fun enough to want to ride it over and over again.  You won't believe the beauty of this trail.

Okay, there is a catch however - we need some substantial workdays to make it an actual reality.  That's where you, the SWAMP Member, comes in.  We really need your help on this one.  Your club officers did all of the necessary work to get it approved; we have the equipment and tools on the ready; what we need now is bodies to come out and put a little sweat equity into a jewel of a trail.

I know, it always seems to be that these trail building workdays get called, and when do we get to ride.  Trust me folks no one feels that more than me.  A major goal of future trail building is to make these trails sustainable so that they just need some trimming, or minor erosion control to make easier trail maintenance days.

The second Saturday of the month, which is December 13th, is the official Boyette workday.  We will have other days before that for anyone who can help out, but we want to make the 13th a big one.

You will have options.  If you can only work from 9a.m. to noon?  That's fine, we can do that.  You can work all day until 4:30?  Great, that is what we need.  Or maybe you can't be there in the morning, but can make it for the afternoon shift.  Sweet - we'll take that too.

Food and beverage will be supplied for the noon lunch break.  We'll also have snacks and beverage for your break during the day.

Please RSVP to me for this Trailbuiladapalooza.  You will be a part of the push that made some of the best off road trail riding in West Central Florida.

Thanks,
Garry

Can't make the 13th because my kid's graduating from USF.  Now if she could only find a real job - anybody need to hire an elementary school teacher??

Everybody needs to do their part - I'll get in on some of the work days.
