Kenda Small block 8- UST or not?
« on: December 18, 2008, 07:24:58 AM »
Am thinking of going with a small block 8 for the rear tire. Right now i am running Nevegals front and back with full UST seup on Mavic wheels. No stans sealant. The bad thing is the USt tires are heavy. I went tubeless to save some weight but thinking these tires make up for not having tubes. Should or could i put on the non ust small block on my UST rims? Will i need to use Stans? Should i look for another similar tire to the 8 that is lighter? What about the Specialized 2Bliss tires?
wherever you go.....there you are.

You'll probably need Stan's to get it to seal up correctly.  I'm currently running a UST SB8 in the back of my Blur where it replaced a tubed Nevegal and I'll tell you that it is night and day in terms of rolling resistance.

I am using a couple of the Specalized 2Bliss tires, the Fastrak LK and Captain both in the S-Works version. The beauty of these tires is they have a light weight conventional casing but a tubeless bead for your security and her satisfaction ;D Really the best of both worlds, they are both great rollers with the Fastrak having the upper edge in rolling resistance and the Captain in the cornering and climbing department.

As a conventional cased tire, you could but you would probably be adding air a couple times a week :P Throw a scoop or two of stans and get thorn protection as well ;)

I have non-UST SM8s on stans rims with a lil goopy juice and they hold air better than any non-UST tire I have used tubeless
