How did you find SWAMP?
« on: November 30, 2006, 10:35:17 PM »
How did you discover the SWAMP Website?

I have heard people say they never knew about our club or website. I am interested if finding new ways to make it easier for people to find us. I think that knowing how you first found us might be helpful.

Can you tell us how you discovered this site?  Do you have ideas on how we could have made it easier for you?

Thank You for taking the time and consideration to answer this!

From Ken,
I first found Swamp through Chainwheel Drive in Clearwater about 5 or 6 years ago while inquiring about off-road trails. I had heard about Swamp before and seen the plates and stickers but didn't know much about the club. I asked at Chainwheel and they were very informative and knowledgeable about the club and i picked up a phamplet and joined. the next year we signed up as a family membership when my kids stared to show more interest in riding. Five years later it's better than ever and we're proud to be a part of such a great club! Love the Fat Tire Festivals! ;D
If you don't crash occassionaly, you're not riding hard enough!!

We saw the SWAMP signs on the trail at Alafaya. Plan on joining at the first of the year. We're also joining the Ridgeriders. Gotta ride the TOE. Omba is a great club as well. May join there too. I wish they were all one big club like DORBA. ???

Local Bike shop... My wife and I just moved down here from Fayetteville, North Carolina, yes we are military......got in touch with Cap at the Bike Works by the house. The rest is history...

I dig this club, my club up in North Carolina there was not this type of interaction..

Question though. What priviledges do I get online with my membership?  Are there spots that non members are not allowed to go or topics that non members are not allowed input to..

Thanks
-Bob

Question. What privileges do I get online with my membership?

Well, Welcome to Florida too Bob! (as well as to SWAMP)

There are several levels of online access.  I will mention the levels below moderators (who have access to one more board)

Guests can view all of the main website (http://www.swampclub.org) plus about 10 boards of topics in the SWAMP Community
[Guests view the website without logging in]

Registered Guests to the forums (who login) can view everything Guests can plus they can:
  • Read additional boards and topics (at least twice as many)
  • Reply to and Create Topics
[Anyone can be a registered guest and login to the forums to use them.  You do not need to be a SWAMP club member to use these forums!]

SWAMPer and Ride Guides have additional forum access to:
  • Trail Maps for Alafia River State Park, Boyette Scrub and Croom
  • Club business board
  • Online e-group (e-mail distribution list)
[SWAMP membership is $20 per year, $30 for family]

The forum software works in such a way that users will only be shown areas they have access to.  Take a look at how many boards and topics are on the forum before and after you login to get an idea of how differences are handled.

Also, No Fear, anyone can join us on our club rides (Sundays and Tuesdays).

 ;D

I was riding at Morris Bridge in September 2005 and some guy wearing a blue swamp club jersey flew by me, ringing a bell  (you know who you are :)) That day I picked up a flyer at one of the kiosks, I went online and looked at the website and found out about the 2005 Fat Tire Festival.  That was my first ride with the group. I have been hooked ever since. It is a great bunch of people! Great rides! Great friends!

That's an interesting way to describe Eddie O (visit his "Ultra-Endurance MTB Racer & Connoisseur of Adult Beverages" site.)!  8)

He takes fourth in the 24-hour nationals (Solo) in July and is described as an 'old SWAMP member'.  That's cool.

You can listen to him here or read about him here or here

Very Cool!

See you on the trails soon!

Internet search engine.  I've also seen some notices at some of the trails I ride.  Which are generally paved.  Which is why I haven't joined.
