So we enjoyed beautiful weather yesterday morning at Wilderness Park. We rode Heartbreak Ridge like we always do. I hadn't been able to ride for the past 2-3 months, so I was confused when I was preparing for the LARGE root by the bridge and much to my dismay, I never crossed over it.
I saw Gregg after the ride in the parking lot and he mentioned the same thing. Now it seems to me chopping out that huge root goes against 2 VERY big rules of mtb trail maintenance.
1: Don't make trails easier, especially if they are marked "extremely difficult"
2: Don't chop roots out. Put dirt over them if you must, but don't ever cut roots out.
So what gives?
