Caliper mounting bracket
« on: January 01, 2009, 11:34:30 AM »
i just got the 8" hayes front brake kit for my anniversary which is today.
my bike has the 6" rotor on it now.
at a quick glance, the caliper looks like it mounts to the fork in the same way the 6" rotor's caliper does.
i'm assuming i'll need a spacer/adapter?
would a lbs have those?

well, took the caliper and put it against the bike, yep, need a post mount adapter for an 8" rotor.
gonna check some lbs's to see if they have any.
pricepoint has them for like $20 (kinda crazy that a molded piece of plastic costs just under what it does for a rotor, lol

I doubt many Florda bike shops would carry parts for 8 inch rotors. I went to Aj's a few months back for a IS to post mount adaptor (which I thought was very common). Their mechanic had to look in the back for a while before finding one. If your desperate I may be able to borrow the one off of my downhill rig for you. Not sure if it's post mount to post mount though.
