Not for the squeamish...

What's missing here -

Take a close look -

Text from the original post (http://one2ride.org/bulletin/index.php?topic=3554.0) -

Patrol member Ralph Lindsay reported about an injury at Markham today that will make everyone reading this scream, ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!.

A body armored rider on a Specialized Enduro crashed on Gun Range trail and during his fall the carbon fiber brake lever somehow jammed itself into his thigh very close to the groin and the brake lever then snapped off. Ouch!

When Ralph arrived on the scene the guy was lying on the trail with the brake lever protruding from his thigh/groin area and had already dialed 911. Ralph assisted with EMS and the rider was transported to the hospital with the lever still in his leg.

Ouch, that's gonna leave a mark! Dave

That's a dangerous place to be impaled for a couple of reasons. What a freak thing though.

You know - I'm liking the feel of a cross country trail with the technical aspect of it being a long fun ride with simple obstacles. The heroic "i'm so bad - what cha got foo" trail?  Not so much.   ;D

Its not a fake, unless they are playing some elaborate joke over at Club Mud, but I highly doubt that.

Two words...carbon fiber...

What does carbon fiber have to do with getting a brake lever jammed in your leg? An aluminum one may not have broken off, but what is the difference? Either way you got a big hole in ya.

I dont see any logical way that this could happen.

Oven if you go over the bars, ok, hit the shifters the bars, but impale?
The angle doesnt make sense, the dull end on the shifters does not make sense,
there is just so much that dont make sense on this...
