I do that as well...I'll be dropping a couple of bills at my local shop of choice (Kyle's Bike Shop in Orlando) this Thursday, thank you very much :)

I'm a big advocate of supporting the LBS, but I found my brakes for 60% off.  Try as they might the LBS knows they can't do that.  I even discuss this with the LBS I use and they agree, and know, that I spend money in their shop when I walk through the door.
