I had two of the peanut butter cliff bars Sunday when I rode.. I haven't died yet so I'm guessing I'm safe.

I ate a Chocolate Chip Peanut Crunch during my ride last Sunday.. No ill effects, except for fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.

I'll be okay....I'll just lay here for a while.... :'(

Indeed.. Do any of your 'natural' snacks include peanuts ? You can get salmonella just as easily from natural foods.

I believe salmonella outbreaks are typically due to contamination in handling process rather than having anything to do with the ingredients themselves.  I remember one of the last salmonella outbreaks was in jalapeno and serano peppers.

Thus the number one reason I dont eat PEANUTS.

They are not part of my nutritional choices at all.

I like Cashews, whole natural type.

I like "KIND" bars, thats the name brand they are awesome.

On my last trip, however, My wife made me Nut bars herself, and they were AWESOME.

I dont use cycling related products for fueling, cliff or any of those brands, I have a pocket full of nuts, or nut bars and trail mixes.

The typical brands I buy come from either the natural store or from the greenwise aisle in publix.  I dont buy products with peanuts or peanut butter though i avoid it every chance I can.

I prefer almonds or cashews for both.

I have even started using Almond meal, which allows me to make cookies and pizza dough without the use of grains, more nutritious and healthier over all.

A clif bar is natural.
Ingredients: Organic Brown Rice Syrup, ClifPro® (Soy Rice Crisp [Soy Protein Isolate, Rice Flour, Malt Extract, Calcium Carbonate], Organic Roasted Soybeans, Organic Soy Flour), Organic Rolled Oats, Dried Apricots (Apricots, Evaporated Cane Juice, Rice Flour, Citric Acid, Ascorbic Acid), Organic Evaporated Cane Juice, ClifCrunch® (Organic Oat Fiber, Inulin [Chicory Extract], Organic Milled Flaxseed, Organic Oat Bran, Psyllium), Organic Dried Apples, Organic Date Paste, Organic Sunflower Oil, Natural Flavors, Citric Acid, Salt, Colored With Annatto.

Ya I see they have taken to adding the word "ORGANIC" in front of their ingredients.  This will work for the average consumer.  Just cause something says ORGANIC doesnt mean it earns my trust.  Im more concerned about the ingredients.  And when the ingredient list sounds like chemistry class is when I choose to not eat the product.  This sounds too much like chemistry and straight from the site, 70% natural?  Man 70%, LOL. I like 100% Natural.

Now the NEctar line they are showing on the site are a little more on my par, check out that ingredient list.

Ingredients: Organic Dates, Organic Cashews, Organic Sour Cherries, Organic Pomegranate Concentrate

Sounds alot better.

Thats the kind of list I like to see, words that dont sound like chemistry.

As for me, if it sounds like science, I rather talk about it then put it in my body...

IMHO...
