Light & Motion isn't selling HID anymore. Everybody's going to LED. They burn cooler and don't use as much battery juice.
That's a nice headlight for trail riding (I'd be buying one for the 12 hr if I didn't have an ARC to borrow), but it's kinda overkill for the road. I use my Stella on the road and it's great. It's even really easy to adjust the beam to shine into the faces of idiot drivers when needed.
Once I was riding on the trailbridge (R.I.P.) before dawn with my HID and a ranger flagged me down because he thought I was a motorcycle.
I do like the idea of a brighter light on the rear.
