First ride on clipless. You'll never guess what happend.
« on: January 27, 2009, 05:50:18 PM »
So I strapped on my new shoes, attached the pedals and off I went. Did decent in the backyard, so I figured I was ready for a spin around the hood. Did fine for a bit, clipped in and out, left seemed tight, but I figured it a new thing to get used to. Things got sketchy once I started to get to some red lights. Three lights in and, oh-no, straight down. Had to have been a sight for those who noticed. Direct shot to the knee, not too painfull, but iceing it to prevent swelling and hope it's not to bad in the morning.

So anyone who has there first ride on clipless, STAY IN THE GRASS, even if you feel secure. I read this, but ignored it....... Sorry now. Haha

Yep, definitely happens to everyone from time to time.  Make sure the next time you do it, you're in a crowded parking lot at the trailhead and everyone witnesses it.  Those are the best.  ;D

I've got nobody to impress :)  My daughters would find it funny ('silly daddy') and my wife would laugh.

This is why I wear knee/shin guards.

I reserve my body armor for out west or lift-served riding.

I thought it would be smart to practice my wheelies after installing a fresh pair of clips. I landed on my bike with the bike on top of me, still attached.  ???
