29er Build
« on: January 28, 2009, 09:31:16 AM »
I'm ready to start getting the parts together for the build.  this post has been moved from for sale in order to not interfere with for sales items.  So far,  I' looking for a frame and rims, or front rim.

Bill is right, they make nice bikes too, I loved benji's.  If I was in the market i would buy from them.  As long as they offer geared options you may be in business with them as well.

I believe the Dillinger is either geared to SS (it used an eccentric bb with vertical dropouts).

I should be ready next Sat.  Is that  good for everone?  I have the frame forks and rims coming and the 26" to strip.  NI I   will need your tires.  Am I missing anything?

I will not be able to make it next saturday got a dirty tour lined up.  I guess I will throw them in your box with the fork, just pay me the 10 bucks each once you get it.

1) May sure your seat tube is the same size on the new frame (might need new seat post and clamp)
2) Make sure your front derailleur has the right clamp size, pull (top, bottom, or dual) and swing (top swing or bottom swing)
3) See if the BB shell is the same width (may need spacers if not)
4) Get a Shimano master pin for the chain unless you have Sram's quick link
5) Make sure your new frame has a derailleur hanger
6) See if the head tube/steer tube is the same height (may need spacers)
7) See if your forks disc brake mounts are the same (standard or post mount, may need a different adapter)
8) Make sure you have an extra few feet of cable housing
9) Might also want to get new shift cables cause they may end up being to short for the new frame or could fray when disassembled/assembled
10) Make sure the frames disc brake cable clips are the same (may just need zip ties but others have special clip and sleeve thingy's

All of the things I've mentioned have made me have to go back to the bike shop mid build and that is super annoying when you know your buddies are riding while your running all over town for some stupid part.

Next Saturday SHOULD be an Alafia workday...?

Build the bike after workday?

That works for me.  The only problem is they have it cancelled on the schedule.  Since we have a group out there we could suggest to Art to proceed with the work day.

Big problem....will my Hydraulic brakes work on a 29er?
