I've never tried the SLR. I demo'd a Flite gel flow for awhile, and ended up going with a Max Flite Gel Flow. Some of the LBS's have saddles you can demo before you buy.

Never used that particular saddle.  I did have a Selle San Marco Caymano saddle on my bike.  170 grams, and actually pretty comfortable considering how thin it looks.
Ibis Mojo SL-23.81 lbs.
Ibis Tranny-20.75 lbs.

don't go by weight on the saddle. No amount of weight is worth an uncomfortable saddle. :)

This is absolutely true... How your butt feels is more important than a few grams.....take it from someone who tried that route.

Comfy is good, I am riding a WTB Silverado currently, it is pretty minimalistic in design too but weighs in at a HEFTY :o 200 g's :D If I can get that amount of cush in a 135 gram package I would be sold :)

go for the lightest....if your butt gets sore you are lazy and in the saddle too much....actually take the saddle off...cut a slit in a tennis ball and put that on your seat post and boom...perfection

I agree, comfort far out weighs shaving grams.  200 grams (less than 1/2 a lb?) is hefty?!  After all, spinning weight is the one to concentrate on.  Selle Italia makes great saddles.  Their Trans Am, if you can find them, are very comfortable.  Fit and comfort first, then "consider" weight IMO.

The word on these saddles is that they are comfortable, I would really like to demo one but know if that will happen hence my reason for seeking real seat of the pants feedback.

Scotty, I had this one:

It was comfortable for long (70+ dirt miles rides).  My only complain was that certain bib cloth material would slide on the slick leather top.  After I broke it, I switched it for one with a bit more rougher surface so my bibs won't slide too much.

If you do get one check where the titanium rails attach to the base.  Mine was a plastic like material attached to carbon fiber that sourrounded the edges of the titanium rails.  My fat arse broke the thing and I lost $200 on it.

What model SLR is that Marcel? The plain SLR does not have the love channel, is that the Gel?

Sorry, it was not the SLR I had.  I had the Flite Gel Flow.  Heavier then the SLR at 220g and $200.

I used the SLR for a couple of years and it was quite comfy, even on looooooong days in the saddle. The only reason I went away from it is because I kept bending the hollow ti rails (one reason it's so light).

So rail durability is a problem, what are you using now Harvey?

WTB Rocket V SLT. I now look for solid ti rails for my MTB saddles. For the record, that WTB is one of the most comfortable things I've plunked my spandex-clad butt onto.
