Corkscrew trail at Ridgeline
« on: April 18, 2009, 09:54:33 AM »
This past week we started 2 new trails for Ridgeline. Both will be harder options.
One will feature a steep drop accelerating the rider to 20 mph, then 2, four foot high banked curves. There's nothing like this in Florida, it will definitely be a thrill ride. Cool thing- it is a loop that can be ridden again and again.
The second section will be about a quarter mile of deep-n-steep drops. Like the existing Ridgeline, several steady climb-drop sequences will get you to the highest point. From there, it's two long, steep drops with big G transitions that will rocket you up the next hill.
Beginning the week of April 21-23 (Tue-Thur), we could use a few volunteers to start grooming what has already been rough cut. If interested, send me an email with what day you could be available. (wes  at SWAMPclub dot org)
A few photos of Corkscrew can be seen via the 'Wes Eubank's photo gallery' link from  http://www.swampclub.org/boyette/

we will have a small crew working Tuesday and Thursday, starting at 8:30. Both days we will be working on the new ridge, and Corkscrew.
If any BMX types with experience building banked curves could join us, it would be appreciated.
Please RSVP so I will have sufficient tools.

Wes, the BMX types will not show unless you add jumps.  LOTS of jumps.  A few rocks might help!

Find the Corkscrew section after Pepper Ridge and the Plunge. You will see the two high banked, clay turns to the rider's left side. The entrance to Corkscrew is after the entrance to allow repeated riding. The entrance is along the trail about 80' from the exit, also on the left. Corkscrew is OPEN and fun.[/] [/]  After building Corkscrew and test riding it eleven times, I am still not satisfied with how it rides. I am looking for opinions of other riders who have actually ridden Corkscrew several times. Did you ride from the top through curve_1 without braking? What is the proper trajectory? Are there problems maintaining speed? Is it the surface, or arc degree, or bank height, or bank length, or What do you think? Thanks. Jeff.

Now I have read this a couple of times over and over  - The entrance is after the entrance?  You mean the entrance is after the exit?  Oy, I'm feeling dizzy!

What is "Pepper Ridge"
You have the double-dip drop with the 90 left turn climb under the canopy of Brazilian Pepper trees just before the "Plunge".

The entrance is along the trail about 80' from the exit, also on the left.

So you're saying the entrance to Corkscrew is 80ft before the exit of Ridgeline on the left?
I became insane with long intervals of horrible sanity.

Wow, I am stoked. There is a workday this weekend right? Will this be worked on then?
