Panthers

While riding early in the morning out of East Meadow(The southeast side) and heading north on the double track we saw the most amazing thing today.  While climbing up the hill we stopped about 10 ft from 2 panthers engaged on the double track.  These 2 were not bobcats, as they were very large, and gave me the instant feeling that I needed to use the super crapper.  No I did not get any pics to prove we saw these 2 big cats, as living to see another day was more important than documenting the sighting.  Anyway, just thought I would share with everyone since I know there have been rumors for years that Panthers exist out at Boyette.  I know 2 of us who can confirm that rumor.  No pictures......but at least we are alive.

Yeah I know, but I had my son with me, so no taking chances that the kitties were going to be nice.

Ohh I will Garry.....I'll go back on the hunt early in the AM!

Don't know about panthers but I have seen the Boyette mystery cat, some type of exotic breed. I also saw the same breed at thr Mosaic plant on U.S. 41, 5 miles due west of Boyette. These cats I'm refering to are panther size but have a dark mottled coat :)

The jaguarundi are too small for the cat I saw near the strawberry farmers field one day.  This sucker had to be over 50 lbs.  Jaguarundi get on average about 14 lbs.

I'm sure they were Panthers....They were a dark tan.  We got pretty close and I'm sure if they weren't busy engaging or dating they would have ran off before we got there.  All I remember was seeing 2 big cats that could of easily had us for lunch.  I know without a pic there is no proof, but I'm sure they will turn up again soon.  It does make sense for the wild life to migrate to other areas since Boyette has seen an increase in riders.
