Riding in NC, is full suspension needed?
« on: April 27, 2009, 01:51:35 PM »
Just posted this question on the egroup and realize that this is the proper forum for my question.

We bought a house last summer near Tsali.  I want to leave a bike up there instead of hauling one back and forth.  I've not ridden up there yet, been too busy fixing up the house.

I've got a lead from Craigslist on a Trek 6000 but it's only got front suspenion, not rear.  I think full suspension is needed here.  What about up there?

I'd appreciate any experience or wisdom or feedback.

thanks,

Jennifer

Jennifer - You don't need a FS at Tsali but you might want a FS bike if you venture into other trails in WNC...

If you're not hardcore and just mainly want to enjoy yourself go for FS.

I agree with Luis, you don't need FS, but it sure is nice. ;)

Hi Jennifer,

My fiance and I just visited Tsali a few weekends ago. She rides a rim-braked hardtail (Trek 4300), and we rode the Right and Left loops at Tsali (marked off for the race course). We both had a blast, and she had no problems with her bike. If you are just looking to have an inexpensive bike so you don't have bring your main bike back and forth - a hardtail would work fine for Tsali. As Luis mentioned, however, there are plenty of trails in the area that you might want to have suspension.
