thoughts:
karlos has no "off switch" - until he rides for 14 hours straight.
MK upgraded his testes to "brass".
brett is an animal.
Pisgah is the most rugged and demanding place i've ridden. when it takes 4 hours to cover about 12 miles and you leave nothing - absolutely nothing on the table - that is rugged. the downhills are freaking awesome - going down Pilot Rock is insane fun (for a cross country dude).

LOL, I dont know..NEVer paid attention.

Luis -- Technically Rob and MK won, but they did not beat us, they simply won.  If that makes sense.

good job fellas!!

We went for the Bigger finish, and barring several various factors that I will summarize in my yet to do post, we would have WON.

Here is the caveat,
Eric said he would count our finish, so if he does and does not put us in last with 5cps. Then its possible we may have won..LOL...So final results will tell the final tale, but as of now, per the rules, rob and Mk won.

The story... well...
thursday and friday were fun days of riding 15-20 miles each day. just a little exploring as Karlos was the only one that had ridden in that area before. lots of hike-a-bikin going on. The downs are just awesome. i like a good technical trail and can usually let it roll - and that stuff was right up my alley. only had to walk a few downs that were beyond my skill set.

saturday was great. i wasn’t nervous (my gut is usually a wreck before an event) but i was calm and ready to go. when he said "go" mike and i broke out the map, made a plan, and took off. we did well going up black mountain. passed a few teams and also re-passed teams that went out too fast too early by passing us on the lower slope of black mountain.

We took the opposite path as Brett and Karlos:
black mountain > turkey Pen > squirrel gap > laurel mountain > 525 > black mountain > finish. We skipped 5000.

we got 4 CP's in around 11 hours. don't know the official time yet but we were in with plenty of day light left.

I was hurting making the way back up to black mountain at the end of the day as MK was 'dancin on teh pedals' (best Phil Ligget voice) on Claw Hammer and up to Pressley Gap. There were teams in front of us and he was chasing them down like a mad man - guess he didn't get enough punishment over the previous 10 hours (which means he prolly had enough gas in the tank to go for that 5th CP).

The forestry road sections and the descent of Pilot Rock are what stick out in my mind. fast fast fast.

i'd do it again!!
