Places to stay near Alafia
« on: May 18, 2009, 03:37:03 PM »
Plan on heading to Alafia frm Miami/FTL area for Memorial Day weekend with 4 other riders in tow.  Looking for some reasonable lodging in the area, camping could be an option although the weather is looking a bit iffy.  I would really appreciate some suggestions from the locals.  I promise we are fun loving and not snobby south of Orlando socialites!

If you are looking for hotel/motel then the Brandon/Lithia area is probably your best bet. I have been scouring camp sites and all are booked solid or walk up only (translated as no way). There are many hotels throughout Brandon and it is a short drive from there to alafia state park.

Oh and nice and close to the Boyette trails too.

Thank you!  I kind of figured we might end up in the Brandon area.

A couple of other options for you would be Plant City or Lakeland.

We still have some camping sites available at Lithia Springs.  Its 12    dollars a night( up to 8 people), and a 10 minute drive from Alafia.  The weather is not looking to good for camping though.

Seems it always rains on Memorial Day weekend :( but down here, we really need the rain.  Thank you for your suggestion of Lithia Springs, am calling them today.  Might have an option on VRBO also in the Riverview area.

What are the sites like?  I got one for Friday at Alafia, but looking for somewhere to stay on Saturday night, possibly.

lithia springs park has some very nice secluded sights. I use to camp there back in the day.
