Are You Going to Ride This Year??
« on: January 04, 2007, 11:04:26 PM »
So it's a new year. Let's face it you didn't get to ride as much as you wanted to..  Maybe you are a newlywed and it's hard to get away from your old man or your old lady..  maybe you just had a kid (thats me) maybe you just made excuses last year..  Well not this year.  I know that it's hard to get out and ride during the week with work and all, believe me there is not a day gone by that I thought I could just leave right now, noone would even no that I was gone and get out there and ride. If I could just get that meeting with the BOB's...  maybe I'll be made management then I'll go every day and work once in a while...LOL.. ;)

Anyways..  Just get out there and ride. If your buddy needs a swift kick in the hind quarters be a gentleman or a lady and GIVE IT TO EM!  Get out and ride..

Ok I'm off my soapbox now..  See you on the trails..  (If I'm not doing Daddy Dooty)   ;D

My mileage total for 2006 was a paltry 1680 miles :(  My goal was 2400

Maybe by writing that down I'll reach it for 2007.

Write down your goal mileage.  Say 2400 for the year.  Then with each ride subtract from that number.  You get more motivated to squeeze in the time to ride the miles as you watch them get smaller.

Good tip!  I think I'll do it. 2500 miles for 2007. no idea for 2006 but probally around 800. How about an on line log  that we can post to? Maybe include it in our avatar space. After every ride we can simply change the total. I know you computer experts can do it!!!! :D

Thats a good idea Ells maybe we could get something on the site where we can log rides.... I dont think it needs to be overcomplicated just something where we could put where, how long, time, and maybe avg spds...  it would be cool..

I don't have a lot of spare time any more but I do track my rides on RideJournal.com * (Ride, Log, Repeat) and PolarPersonalTrainer.com (for Polar Heart Rate monitor customers).

My goals:
- 50 miles per week
- 75% of my rides as base rides at 75% or less max Heart Rate **

Allowances:
- Ok to take 2 weeks off and/or allow for busy times when riding is impossible.
- Don't be too killer about missing rides

I can view ride, month, quarter, and year totals on Ride Journal and on Polar Trainer I can report on Heart Rate comparisons , total weekly hours, weight, miles and rides over periods of 1, 3, 6 and 12 months.

I just can't figure out why that weight line doesn't keep trending downward. ;)

Notes:
* There is a SWAMP Club entry on Ride Journal, under the Clubs selection.

** It is amazing how much you learn about fast riding and conserving energy by limiting your max heart rate for a training ride

2482 miles to go. Logged some miles at Alafia this morning as everybody else bailed. Used my early morning pass. i was more worked from the 12 + miles here than the easy loops I was running at Carter last week. Totally drenched in sweat.

I rode 3285 miles this past year. My goal was to do 2500, I guess I got carried away. I was dropping weight pretty furiously through about June, but I guess that was about as far as it will go with out cutting out the doughnuts :-\.

My goals for this year are:

4000 miles

Cut the doughnuts out (mostly), and drop another 25 pounds.

I will be riding in at least two races this year, 12 hours of Razorback, and Squiggy. Notice I said riding, not racing. I have some trepidation over the Razorback event.  I did Squiggy last year and did three laps, at a little under 10mph avg. This year I am confident that I can improve on this by about 10-15%( no doughnuts that day).

I did not start working on the trails until pretty late in the year last year, but I have found that to be a lot of fun, and I will do at least one work day per month.

I fully expect that I will continue to spend money at the bike shop on a pretty regular basis, however; I beleive that I won't spend much more on this bike. I have started to think about an entry level road bike to get some more spinning time in.

Three sets of Panaracers. The back ones are really the only ones that wear out, but I like to replace them in pairs.

Are you still in one piece?  I did my normal "road winnie" ride at TC yesterday.
