Greens lick
« on: May 26, 2009, 07:32:31 PM »
What an amazing trail!!! Rode it Sunday, almost immediately turned around and pushed the bikes right back up for another run. Best trial I'd ridden to date. Wish they had a chair lift and something to block the rain though.

I knew you'd like that one.

So did it rain??

Yup, basically rained the ENTIRE time I was up there. Only a annoying drizzle for the most part though. Planned on two days of mtb'ing and only got to ride one day. Missed Kitzuma and Pisgah but just gives me a good reason to go back (when the rain chance is closer to 0%). We couldn't reschedule this trip cause there was a camp site and cabin rental already set up far in advance. Got some directions up with a group who was riding the service roads due to the weather and they had all moved up to the area just because of the great biking. One dude was from south Fl originally. I lost track of the number of cars I counted that had bikes and or bike racks on the roof. Closest thing I've ever seen to a mtb community. Instead of a bunch of Wal-Mart Mongoose's locked to the bus stop bike rack you'd see a Gary Fishers and Treks.I mean, you'd be sitting in a bar and when people would hear you talking about the days adventure they'd ask you about the trail conditions.

Can't wait to go back but I will have to work on my climbing legs beforehand. I though 2-3 days a week at Alafia/Boyette would prepare me but I was most certainly wrong about that. Probably just need to get my road bike up and running and then hit the hills a little north of us.

I've always found it interesting as well when up in NC or out West to see how much more popular biking is than in Florida.  It really helps put things into perspective when you complain about your LBS not having XYZ in stock.

Out of curiousity, was the guy from S. Florida riding a dark blue Santa Cruz Heckler?

Older Trek hardtail. They were all on hardtails since the plan was to just do service roads that day cause of the rain.

Cool...just curious if you happened to run into a friend of mine that moved up there from S. Floria a couple of years ago.

Might have been as I imagine he has more than one rig. Taller white guy who was overly helpful with directions and advice. Might have had blondish red hair? Was riding with another guy and two girls. This one girl was pretty cool as she had pimped out her bike with pink cable/brake housings and tassels.

His other bike is a Demo 8 so that wasn't him.
