Cool concept, but I don't see a mountain bike being of much use in a battle field where there are no groomed mountain bike trails.  To solve this issue I propose SWAMP could try to get a gov't contract to build battle field trails to accomodate these bikes....just a thought ;)

Interesting story (to me at least):  I worked for a market research company back in the day.  One of our clients was testing general consumer interest for an electric bicycle that would charge itself when the rider pedalled the bike.  I don't think this particular bike ever went to market, but at the time they were also working towards getting a government contract for covert field ops.  They figured the military would be intersted in a relatively light/compact quiet mode of transportation to allow soldiers to cover more ground than if they were hiking.  Amazingly they clocked their military model in excess of 50mph.

"black ops" rob roberts used to jump out of C-141's over the mountains of Alaska clipped in to his bike, parachute down, then bomb the fu* out of whatever mountain he landed on.

I had that bike but it was under the Mongoose name. Wife bought it for me for our anniversary at the University Bike Center. After having it a while I learned that Mongoose wasn't a good brand any longer (for the most part). It didn't inspire confidence due to folding design and as far as I'm concerned was a special occasion bike not a daily driver. Sold it on ebay and bought a Giant hardtail. Wife never really did forgive me. I was an idiot, I should have put slicks on it and kept it while buying another bike for off road.

My brother used to restore antique bicycles and one of the ones he did was a WWII British paratrooper bicycle.  He probably still has it in his collection.

Id like to see the part where they actually jump with that beast. Jumping with a rifle and a Ruck is cumbersome enough.
wherever you go.....there you are.
