Spencer is my 7 year old Son (Will be 8 on July 9th) and he has changed bikes in the last 2 years 4 times. Started with a cheap Walmart special 20" bike, moved to a 24" GT Bullet, then a Specialized Hotrock 24", and now a 2006 26" Gary Fisher Advance w/ a light weight aluminum 13" frame, A tuneable RST fork, rapid fire shifters, and a decent component mix. Bought off Craig's list for $120... Just in time for our Weekend Campout at Santos w/ 25 plus people from BAADR MTB Club... Our 1st time riding Santos so it should be a blast! Now I have to find him some clipless pedals and shoes...

Nice...we will have to get our boys together. PJ is 7 and wont be 8 until next March, but i took him on his first 26er ride yesterday.
I need to shorten his chain...it kept coming off, but other than that he had a great time.

Bring him up to Santos this Saturday and ride with us! We will be in Camp sites 5,6,8,10, 12, 16, and 18 and will be riding all weekend. They have lots of trails for all skill levels and we will have 5 or 6 other kids with us. If you cant do that, we have a family ride every 2nd Saturday of the month at Trout Creek Park at 9am.

Kids are so lucky these days. At that age I had a banana seat, those solid rubber wheels, and a army green paint job. My dad was so proud of this refurbished bike and I didn't have the heart to tell him that all the kids in the neighborhood were ragging on it. Damn tires were so heavy you couldn't wheelie it. Bike that doesn't wheelie is about useless at that age. Emotional scars are still just under the surface so I have to compensate these days by having several nice bikes :'(

Oh yeah, don't forget to take that kickstand off of there. Those things can be deadly.
