North Creek - Speed/Time Question
« on: June 30, 2009, 09:20:08 AM »

Hey guys.  Being that I am stil fairly new to biking and understanding speed and endurance, etc., what is a good "time" for North Creek, skipping the Buzzard's Bay extended loop?

I rode it this morning on the Monocog rigid 29er with the stock 32:20 setup in 10mins 30secs at 6:45am.  I don't have an onboard computer, just used a stop watch.  Also, I really have no clue what I am doing technically speaking, I am just using my 100m track legs from college.

Thanks all!

I'm curious as well... I've done it a few times around 11:30 to 12 minutes. I'm pretty sure that's not fast at all. :D Seeing some times will give me something to shoot for.

I went to Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia...if you don't know the school, perhaps you'll recognize the founder's name = Jerry Falwell.  However, they have Division I athletics, a good business program, and I grew up in church, so that is what enticed me.

100m - 10.4
400m - 47.1 (4x400 split)
Long Jump - 24' 10.5" (and that's what paid the bills ;) )

I always putt putt on NC cause it is used as a warm up since I really don't enjoy that trail. I think I'll load up the stop watch next time to see what I can do. Start the stop watch at a stand still right at the entrance sign and stop it as soon as you hit the horse trail intersection?

Never timed myself before today...and I haven't ridden boyette since probably March...and based on that video you posted, there are some additional options that have been created since March, yes?

There could be 2 variations, as some people don't like buzzards loop - also, it is not a particularly fast section IMHO.

Just checked our video from our 1st run @ NC last saturday. From the last blue sign till the last hole after the horse crossing sign(noBuzzardBay) we did it in 11:45... That's after my budy wiped out on the bridge and pretty much just riding without hauling arse for the rest of the way.

Didnt get the 2nd run on video but im sure we killed that time with buzzard bay included, We were flying thru there.

According to my GPS, I rode North Creek in 11 minutes, 46 seconds on Sunday.  That's from the parking lot where I started the timer. I did not do poop loop.  However, I do not stop at the horse crossing.  I continue across and do the short little section of River Loop until it dumps you back out at the sandy clearing.
